Concrete Basins How to Install

How to install

How to install your concrete basin

While Ants is responsible for creating and installing benchtops and other custom creations our concrete basins can be easily installed by a certified plumber. As long as you prepare the space properly and follow the instructions carefully, your new basin will be fitted and ready to use within a matter of minutes.

Step 1 - Prepare Your workspace

Take a soft, damp cloth (ideally a microfiber cloth) and wipe away any dust and debris from where you will be installing the basin. Do this as many times as needed until the area is spick and span  before using a clean, dry cloth to wipe away any moisture that could interfere with the adhesive.

Remove the basin from its protective packaging. Place it next to the installation site and clean it thoroughly, paying special attention to the underside of the basin around the drain hole.

Step 2 - Attach the basin

First, place the concrete basin upside down and apply a generous circle of clear bathroom silicone to the underside, halfway between the outside edge of the basin and the drain hole at the center.

Turn the basin the right way up, align the drain hole with the waste pipe in the bench and press the basin down firmly onto the benchtop, making sure that it is correctly oriented and aligned.

Step 3 - Connecting your plumbing

Once you’ve taken a moment to admire your beautiful new basin – but before the silicone has cured – it’s time to connect it to your plumbing and double-check there are no leaks. None of our basins come with a waste so you’ll need to purchase this separately.

Make sure you have both a top and bottom rubber seal for your waste before attaching it to your basin. Attach the waste to the basin but be careful not to over tighten it, as this can damage the concrete.

Once the waste is attached, connect it to your plumbing, tighten any loose connections and turn on the tap. If everything has been installed correctly, you should have no leaks and your beautiful new concrete basin is ready to use!

NOTE: All Cast Creative Concrete basins must be installed with flexible bathroom silicone. The use of Liquid Nails or any other alternative adhesives risks damaging the basin and voiding your warranty. If you are unsure about the type of sealant/adhesive to use, consult a certified plumber or get in touch with us.
